Finally, someone (Okuma) has brought us a fantastic saltwater spinning reel that is smooth, durable, casts and won't break the piggy bank. The Okuma Salina and now the Okuma Salina Bait Feeder spinning reels are right at the top of my list of the best spinning reels made and without question, the best value there is in spinning reels. Dual Waterproof Drag, machined aluminum spool, body and crank, oversize power handle, corrosion proof bearings, instant anti-reverse… they are just the leader of the pack. I can't say enough fantastic things about them… try one to believe it! I highly recommend the Salinas. No matter which you choose, the saltwater-tough Okuma Salina or the Okuma Salina Bait Feeder (just a dream come true for chunkers and live baiters)… you can't miss! Offshore, surf, jetty, inshore, backwater… it doesn't matter… this is the reel for you. Here is what Okuma says about them:
Blade Body Design - Okuma's Blade
Body Design narrows the profile of the ree's frame. This feature
reduces weight eliminating the extra mass and bulk of the reel,
giving the reel a much lighter and compact design with a strikingly
sharp appearance.
DFD - Dual Force Drag System:
DFD incorporates both surfaces of the spool to maximize high-end
drag pressure, efficiency and over all smoothness. Mounted in the
top of the spool and protected by the Hydro Block system is a multi-disk
felt drag system that works in conjunction with a secondary drag
system that is mounted under the spool. Even pressure is applied
to both surfaces of the spool for maximum stability.
High Density Gearing (HDG)
- Okuma's proprietary HDF forged main gear has been engineerred
to be 50% stronger than standard gearing due to its unique alloy
composition and density. Helical cut gears further enhanced the
drive systems smoothness and efficiency, by improved gear meshing.
HDF gears were specifically designed to withstand the brutal punishment
that today's super braids can place on a reels drive system. |
